Refund & Cancellation Policy
This policy covers the paid hosted Lurker service at lurker.chat. The self-hosted open-source edition is free and is not covered here. This policy is part of, and should be read with, our Terms of Service.
1.014-day money-back guarantee
We want you to be able to try the hosted service without risk. If you are not happy for any reason, email us within 14 days of your first payment and we will refund it in full — no questions asked. Just write to support@lurker.chat from your account email address and ask for a refund.
This applies to your first subscription charge. The refund goes back to your original payment method, and we cancel your subscription at the same time so you are not charged again.
2.0Cancelling your subscription
The hosted service is a subscription that renews automatically each month at the then-current price until you cancel. You can cancel at any time, and cancelling is as easy as signing up:
- Open Manage billing from your account to reach the billing portal, and cancel there in a couple of clicks; or
- Email support@lurker.chat and we will cancel it for you.
Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You keep full access until then, and you will not be charged again after that. We do not put you through retention offers or hoops to cancel.
3.0Renewal charges after the first 14 days
Monthly renewal charges (those after your initial 14-day window) are generally non-refundable — cancelling stops future charges but does not retroactively refund a period you have already started. That said, we are a small operation run by a real person: if you were charged for a renewal you genuinely did not intend — for example, you meant to cancel and forgot — email us and we will do our best to make it right.
4.0How and when refunds are issued
Refunds are processed through our payment provider (Stripe) to your original payment method. The refund usually leaves us immediately; how quickly it appears on your statement depends on your bank or card issuer, and typically takes 5–10 business days. We do not charge any fee to process a refund.
5.0Before you dispute a charge
If you see a charge you do not recognise or believe is a mistake, please email support@lurker.chat first — we can almost always sort it out quickly and directly, usually faster than a bank dispute would.
